A few months before we started the development of the site I came across a website where a girl was selling a special product. She had developed a website dedicated to her knowledge about nice restaurants, shops, café’s around the larger cities in Europe and the US. She was selling an eBook that contained all the information about the hot spots she had been throughout the years for $50. On the site there was also a thermometer indicating that she was using the money from the sale for a designer brand bag that she had always wanted. The thermometer indicated how much money she had been earning so far and how much she still needed in order to be able to buy it.
Her product idea is very brilliant and unique. It is a very good example of the unique products I hope we will get on sale here over time. However by the way she selling the document has a number of drawbacks. One of the problems she has is that the only way a user can buy the document is by sending money through a bank transfer. This is not secure for the buyer in several ways. A bank transfer can never be cancelled so you really have to trust in the seller. The buyer has also no guarantee that he will ever receive the product. Another thing is that there is no way for others to get other buyers opinions about the seller or about the product for sale. Furthermore the site was developed in flash and therefore not possible to index for search engines.
